My teaching philosophy

Discover my core beliefs about education, student engagement, and fostering a love for learning in Health and Physical Education.

Being a voice for every student

To me, being a teacher means being a voice for kids who don’t have one. As an educator, I want my students to love coming to school and love learning new things about themselves. I’ve known I’ve wanted to be a teacher for most of my life. Being a health and physical education teacher is crucial to how a student learns some of life's most important lessons: their health and well-being, knowledge of drugs and alcohol, sex education, and proper nutrition. My mom always told me, “People can take your clothes, cars, and money, but no one can take your education.”

Engaging lessons for every learner

I believe that students are more eager to learn when they are engaged and can have a clear understanding of what is being taught. I know not all students learn the same way, so classrooms should be a space where students can collaborate and collectively learn in their unique ways. I plan to bring this to my classroom daily. I want to keep my students engaged in each lesson, whether it’s health or physical education. My goal is to create a fun learning environment that encourages students to love learning and understand that knowledge is key.

Beyond the curriculum: Lifelong learners

I genuinely want my students to love learning and be open to learning new things about themselves. I want my students to be able to understand their bodies and know how to take care of themselves, especially with everything going on in our world today. With how much will change in education, I hope that people will still know that knowledge is key and no one can take it away from you.
